10 Impossible Video Game Achievements That Totally Broke You

8. “Metal Massacre” - Team Fortress 2

Gears of war 3
Valve

Everyone’s favourite war-themed hat simulator, Team Fortress 2 is rife with content - most of which consists of virtual headgear for ridiculous prices.

When Valve unveiled the new co-operative wave mode Mann Vs. Machine, it was a breath of fresh air for many players. Instead of battling each other, RED team must stop wave after wave of BLU team robots dropping their bomb in the chute at the end of the map.

A bunch of the achievements for the mode can be bagged without anyone breaking a sweat. On the other side of it all, there’s “Metal Massacre” - 1,000,000 robots must die.

That’s a lot of friggin’ robots, in case you don’t realise. Usually, lucky mercenaries might bag themselves a hefty double-digit amount in a single game alone, perhaps 100 if they’re skilled enough.

Let’s put it into perspective here: the map Caliginous Caper has 911 robots. If each victory took approximately one hour, excluding any humiliating failed attempts, then it would take over a thousand hours of gameplay to get this achievement.

(Thank you TF2Wiki, for making me sound like I actually did my research.)

Considering how a lot of enemies in later waves have increased damage, firing rate, speed, size, Medics healing them and the like, you need to be a (figurative) robot-killing machine. Or, just keep taking down the fodder.
