You could ask a toddler what the most important part of a video game tutorial is and get a decent answer back. It's not hard to know that the function of an introductory level is to teach the player how to play the game. So, whoever designed this infamous tutorial really missed the mark.

This much maligned opening places the player in an underground car park and gives them a list of driving tricks to pull off, which they need to do within a tight time limit. Is there any explanation of what these tricks are or how to do them? Of course not! So, you're left driving around for ungodly amounts of time just trying anything.

As if this wasn't bad enough, you don't even get the luxury of taking in the beautiful sights of the game's four city settings, as you're stuck in a dingy little car park that looks overdue a spring cleaning. None of this is good when it comes to luring players in.

Getting through this tutorial was no easy task, and while the game was worth it, not enough people got the chance to find that out for themselves.
