10 Incredible Video Game Intros (That Made You Stop Playing The Second Time Around)

1. Why Can't You Just Start At Skyhold - Dragon Age: Inquisition

Thanks to Dragon Age’s save import system that lets you transfer your saves between games, a lot of the series’ fans love to attempt marathon runs, where they play from Origins all the way to Inquisition.

Emphasis on the word “attempt,” as most of these runs usually end on the second game due to Inquisition’s terribly paced intro.

Although Inquisition’s intro is written to be as epic and action-packed as possible at first, after the fight at the blown-up chantry is over, the game turns into a really grindy exploration of a barren open world.

The bleak feeling of the world doesn’t really get to you the first time around, as the freshness of the areas you're exploring can still fill you with a sense of wonder and curiosity.

After you’ve played it once though, the area is glaringly empty.

It also doesn’t help that the opening of the game doesn’t give you access to your character’s castle in Skyhold, along with all of its amenities, meaning that you have to spend around 20-30 HOURS (yes, that’s how long it takes to finish the intro) before the game gets good.

That's why Dragon Age: Inquisition is the killer of most marathon playthroughs, and why it's one of the most un-finished modern RPGs of all time.
