10 Incredible Video Games You Can't Play Today
1. Skies Of Arcadia
Even though Final Fantasy was the go-to RPG during the millennium, Skies of Arcadia could've given Square's most recognised IP a run for its money if it received a wider release.
Starting off as a Dreamcast exclusive, the steampunk role-player has our heroes battling enemy forces high above the clouds in their airships. Skies of Arcadia focuses more on exploration, rewarding players with new allies and money for venturing across the world. Also, it was cool how your party could use their sky vessels in battle.
However, the Dreamcast was discontinued a month before Skies of Arcadia came to Europe, so many people never got to play it.
Interestingly, there were many attempts to reignite the potential franchise. Though the GameCube received a port, the PS2, GBA, and PC versions were scrapped. Producer, Rieko Kodama, got the ball rolling for a sequel in 2002, but it never materialised.
Believing a direct follow-up was unlikely, Sega settled with releasing a HD remaster in 2010. Sega seemed so dead-set on this updated version, they renewed Skies of Arcadia's trademark in 2012. Sadly, the HD version never came to fruition.
Although main developer, Kenji Hiruta, expressed interest in revitalising Skies of Arcadia two decades after its release, nobody should be holding their breath.
