10 Incredible Warhammer Video Games Every Fan Should Play
3. Warhammer 40k: Space Marine
Set on the Forge World of Graia, Space Marine follows Captain Titus of the Ultramarines as he and his men attempt to repel an Ork invasion of the planet. Third person perspective lets the player watch as Titus shoots and slices his way across the planet in order to expunge the underlying threat, Chaos.
The player gets to take out Orkz and heretics with all kinds of iconic 40K weaponry, ranging from Bolters to Lascannons and thunder hammers. One particular section with a jump pack that sees the player stomping Orkz into little green puddles is particularly memorable. Space Marine sees Titus betrayed by an Inquisitor who has turned to the side of Chaos and opened a portal through which a Chaos Lord steps. The rest of the game sees Titus doing everything he can to prevent the Lord from ascending to daemonhood.
The game was well received and was originally set to be a trilogy but the shuttering of developer THQ sadly put an end to that. Some DLC has been released giving multiplayer new maps and game modes. Stepping into the boots of an Ultramarine and gunning down all who stand in your path makes for a very fun experience.
