10 Incredibly Strange Celebrity Video Game Cameos

9. Michael Jackson In Space Channel 5

The Drew Carey Sims appearance is weird on two points: one, nobody knows who Drew Carey is outside of America. Two, unless you happened to have seen that particular episode of The Drew Carey show €“ which originally aired on April Fool's Day, natch €“ you'd have absolutely no idea why him of all people was making an appearance in Sims game. Okay, expansion pack. Then there's the cameo Michael Jackson receives in Dreamcast rhythm action game Space Channel 5: Part 2, where you play as the pink-haired Ulala, who uses her funky dance moves to rescue hostages from the villainous Rhythm Rogues. It would totally make sense for Michael Jackson to appear in a game about dancing - he had a few moves himself back in the day - and for it to be similarly wacky and off-the-wall (snort) as his persona in general. Plus there's the fact that whilst he's technically called "Space Michael" when you come across him, this literally looks like Michael Jackson appearing in a space station, in the future, teaching a pink-haired lady and a bunch of robots how to dance. He appeared briefly in the first title, but his role is expanded greatly in the sequel, where he doesn't just look like Michael Jackson (albeit early noughties Michael Jackson, so with a weird nose and long straggly locks) - he sounds like him too. MJ himself voiced the character, both making his trademark weird noises during the dancing sections, and actually performing dialogue during the cut scenes. During which his character wears a shiny one-piece suit. Yep. Pretty weird.
