10 Infuriating Levels That Almost Derailed Great Games

4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (NES) €“ Hoover Dam

http://youtu.be/DqfRus5ePmI Ah the classic Turtles Hoover Dam. To this day, I€™ve got a sneaking suspicion that developers Konami and Ultra Games ran out of money before they could finish the game and just designed this level to be impossible. While I know that€™s not true, for all intents and purposes it could be (the above vid could be an elaborate cover up from Konami). I€™ve certainly never beaten it myself to find out. And I€™m not going back now;I#d have more success disarming real underwater bombs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was among the first video games I ever really played. I remember how exciting it felt to take control of the various Turtles (it was one of my favourite cartoons growing up), to act vicariously through a fictional, virtual creature. I remember thinking that all the way up to the Hoover Dam level, at which point I was introduced to the concept of the rage-quit. A frustrating early memory of mine which all but ruined a great early gaming experience.
