10 Infuriatingly Overpowered Video Game Enemies
7. Janissaries - Assassin's Creed: Revelations
Yes, "overpowered" and "Assassin's Creed" should probably never be in the same sentence together, but then you encounter the Jannisaries. In a time when Ezio was able to just counter kill an army to death, these elite soldiers could really ruin your day.
First of all, Janissaries could not be counter-killed. The game doesn't really make any effort to explain how best to take these guys down, essentially forcing the player to improvise their way out of trouble. That's all well and good for many other games, but for something so prone to hand-holding like Assassin's Creed, it's practically unheard of.
If you're thinking that it's best to outrun the Janissaries, well then good luck with that. They can climb and actually run faster than Ezio, meaning that unless you're weaving through some insane obstacle course, you're going to get cut down very quickly.
Facing one would be enough of a problem, but Janissaries travel in packs, meaning not even AC's "enemies politely wait their turn before attacking" mechanic is going to help you if you get surrounded.
It's probably just to just pull a Krieger and throw down a smoke bomb before quietly and shamefully skulking away and hiding around a corner or something.
