10 Insane Alternate Video Game Sequels You Won't Believe Got Cancelled
4. Star Wars Battlefront 4 - Alternate Reality Star Wars
Now, you no doubt already know about the cancelled Star Wars Battlefront 3 that was planned before EA took over the franchise, but did you know there was another sequel in development at the same time?
The cancelation of BF3 came right at the end of development, with the project almost being 100% complete, and a smaller dev team had already started crafting the fourth game.
Even wilder, this sequel was going to invert the Star Wars universe entirely, giving fans an alternate reality where Luke was a Sith Lord, and Darth Maul was actually a jedi. The plan was to flip everything on its head, and dive into battles across iconic planets that had been warped by these alternate events.
It's very gimmicky and out-there, and potentially not at all what anyone would have wanted, but it certainly would have been one of the boldest Star Wars games ever made. Sadly, with the third game not ever coming out, these designs and ideas never got past the pre-production stage, and SW fans have been left wondering what could have been.
