10 Insanely Ambitious Video Games Launching In 2020
3. Skull And Bones
Ubisoft loves taking concepts that have been popular in other games and building new worlds around them. When Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag was released, the naval combat proved to be breath of fresh air. It revitalised a franchise that had started to become stale. Since then, players have been able to control a ship in the majority of Assassin’s Creed games.
The studio wants to repeat its success with Skull and Bones, a pirate game that takes players on an adventure across the high seas. There’s the opportunity to customise your own ship and take on other vessels to prove who rules the Indian Ocean. Players can also get involved in a co-op mode and pit their ships against each other in open combat.
While the graphics of Skull and Bones look impressive, Ubisoft need to focus on differentiating the game as much as possible from Black Flag. Developing unique characters is a good way to do this, as fans were already introduced to historical figures like Black Beard and Calico Jack in Assassin’s Creed.
