10 Insanely Cool Ways Video Games Were Revealed
3. Peter Moore's Sleeve Pull - Grand Theft Auto IV
Compared with the widening gap between Grand Theft Auto V and its recently announced successor's release, the seven-year wait between the series' third and fourth installments is mild in hindsight. In context, it's no surprise that the grand unveiling of Grand Theft Auto IV sticks in the memory, not least due to the frankly weird method with which Rockstar decided to lift the curtain.
Back in E3 2006, then Xbox boss Peter Moore, about to sign off on a successful Xbox 360-centric conference, performed the crowd favourite 'Oh, and just one more thing' party trick. The man, famed, among other things, for the Halo 2 tattoo on his right arm, pulled a double whammy on stage by revealing a new addition to his body art.
Stamped on his opposite arm in immediately recognisable font were three simple words. Grand Theft Auto IV. Humorously, the audience's reaction to Moore's stunt didn't elicit the same screams of excitement a modern-day E3 would elicit. Still, the gimmick has stuck in every millennial's memory ever since.
Whether either of Moore's tattoos is real is anyone's guess; the internet has yet to reach an evidence-based conclusion, by the looks of it.
