10 Intense Video Game Levels NO ONE Beat First Time

5. The Craftsman's Tools - The Evil Within

The Evil Within's tenth chapter, "The Craftsman's Tools," offers that rarest of survival horror experiences that leaves the player feeling drained, defeated, and paradoxically euphoric once they've actually beaten it.

The chapter can take players up to an hour and is jam-packed with stressors designed to put your adrenal glands in overdrive.

This maze-like level throws everything and the damn kitchen sink at you in an attempt to throw you off - sneaky, elaborate traps, hosts of The Haunted to evade, a couple of mini-bosses, and finally two legit bosses - Laura, the spider-like monstrosity who harasses the player throughout, and the hideous Amalgam Alpha.

This chapter demands an awful lot of the player in terms of crowd control and situational awareness, such that nobody could be blamed for taking a mid-chapter break for, say, a week.
