10 Intimidating Video Game Characters We're Glad Were On Our Side!

2. Garrus - Mass Effect

Mass Effect Garrus
BioWare

While many only think of Garrus as one of the more unusual (and yet entirely endearing) love interests of the Mass Effect series, this is looking at the character from only one perspective.

Because, crucially, Garrus' time under the assassin moniker of 'Archangel' is hard to not be intimidated by. Not only does the Turian take out countless criminal figures, but he does so in ways that manage to be both terrifying and darkly karmic.

There's countless examples of this you can discover; Garrus poisoning a drug dealer by giving them an overdose of their drugs, killing a weapons smuggler with their own smuggled weapons, offing a murderer who kills with viruses by infecting them too.

There's an element of righteous fury behind his "biggest" kills that you can't ignore, showing that for Garrus, this wasn't just about protecting people from becoming future targets - it's also about dishing about justice.

As it stands, that fury is by your side as one of your most loyal companions. But if it had been directed against you, it could have very easily led to a painful demise, and so it's no small mercy that this isn't the case.
