10 Most Jaw-Dropping Moments From The Major E3 Press Conferences
4. Assassin's Creed Unity's Tech Demo
Assassin's Creed is a strange franchise. It's beautiful, it's great fun if you're willing to work with what the game wants you to do, and the acting is incredible. Still, it's weird that the millions of dollars used to create these amazing worlds and gameplay elements result in a game where the mission is to simply straight up murder dudes often and without remorse. And remember, you're the good guy. But somehow Ubisoft manages to capture the imagination of gamers every.single.year, and with their demo of Assassin's Creed Unity at E3, they left the jaws on the floor and coaxed the dollars out of the wallets of gamers world-wide as they rushed to pre-order the franchise's 'true' next-gen debut. The demo had incredible graphics, massive crowds, gorgeous scenery, a 'seamless' co-op experience, and an wonderfully realized French Revolution setting. Watching a team of Assassin's infiltrate and execute a series of objectives with precision and fluidity in this world demonstrated the promise of what next generation consoles can truly offer, and got players hyped. Whether or not Assassin's Creed Unity is the game to finally deliver everything gamers want from the franchise remains to be seen, but for now, it's the best of times and the worst of times. The best because we're hyped for a game that looks marvelous. The worst because we won't be able to play until this holiday season, and that's a long, long, long, wait.
