10 Least Intimidating Video Game Bosses (Who Kicked Your Ass)

7. Ni No Kuni - Royal Jelly

Undertale game
Level-5

So JRPG’s are known for having harsh difficulty spikes, I get that, but Ni No Kuni was so loveable in its Studio Ghibili design that it was hard not to be charmed by every creature that roamed on the screen.

In my defence, Ni No Kuni hadn’t really received many challenging sections up until this point, and the setting for this battle was the last place I thought I’d hit a road block. The location in question being the insides of a giant fairy - don’t ask.

For story reasons, you’re essentially tasked to do some “womb raiding” on a gigantic fairy. It’s disturbing, but presented with such charm that it’s easy to not grasp what’s really happened till after.

The ending boss battle places you against a giant jellyfish. Simple, right?

Wrong.

After spending the last hour trudging through the innards of the fairy queen and rescuing a host of cute, baby fairies, my feeling of any vulnerability was stripped away.

As a result, I was placed into an arena with a jellyfish hell bent on my destruction. It’s sharp electrical attacks electrifying my vulnerable body.

I blame those pesky fairies for feeding me a comfort blanket and ultimately, setting me up for fair. Damn you!
