10 Long Video Games That Fall Apart At The VERY End

4. Death Stranding

Well look, it's that massively divisive game again. But for once, this isn't about whether it's good or bad, art or boring, or whatever the argument normally is. No, this time it's about how the ending drags on for what is already a substantially long game.

The final chapters do a good job of laying out Sam's birth and rebirth, the nature of the Death Stranding, what Amelie is and how awesome/diabolical Higgs is a villain. After about three hours of epilogue-ing, you'd hope so.

But then, just when players want to save their progress and stick on something else, Death Stranding just keeps... on... going.

Die Hardman, the sort-of spearhead behind a lot of the goings on in game (it's hard to explain here), just has to have an overly long speech to Sam for that extra runtime. Echoing presumably our own sentiment, Sam's face is a picture of disinterest as Hardman essentially rehashes established points with some added dramatic flair.

Bare in mind, this is already after that excruciating beach part. It shouldn't have come as a surprise, given the nature of the game. But still, there's a limit.
