10 Long Video Games That Fall Apart At The VERY End

2. Metal Gear Solid 4: The Guns Of The Patriots

Having a list like this and not including a Metal Gear Solid game? What are we, some sort of pseudo-ironic hipsters? The real difficulty was choosing which one...

Of course, it could only be "Quick, let's try and wrap up ALL of the plot threads in one overlong finale" Metal Gear Solid 4. As if players didn't have it hard enough with the microwave corridor bit beforehand.

It's admirable that Kojima at least tried to resolve the Solid Snake arc, and with that, all the supporting cast too. But Meryl's wedding scene and Drebin spelling out the blatantly obvious hand-holding from the Patriots?

The elaborate plan that Rose and Campbell went through to protect Raiden's child, Sunny finally making eggs? All just very, very long cutscenes that pad an already long runtime.

In its defence, it is nice to see Snake get closure with Big Boss, the death of the Patriot's roots and it bringing a close to a lot of worldwide suffering and control. But good lord, it didn't need to about three more hours of cutscenes after punching Liquid Revolver Ocelot to death on top of a submarine base thing.
