10 Major Video Game Mistakes Of The 2010s The Next Gen Must Learn From
7. Absurd Game Editions
Special editions are present across all media. You get directors cuts, limited edition runs of comics and in video games you get a whole range of limited editions, special editions and ultimate editions.
With video games it really does feel like there is no roof to how many editions a game can have. A special edition can be cool purchase for an avid fan or a first day limited edition could be quite alluring to collectors, but as always the industry have just taken it too far.
The worst offender for this has to be Assassin's Creed Odyssey, with there being five different versions that you can buy. The cheapest version was your standard $54.99, whereas the ultimate edition was a shocking $119.99. As you can see on the table, you don't even get everything if you buy the ultimate edition. The only way to get everything on offer is to buy two different copies!
While you can easily ignore this practice and instead just buy the standard game, it just shows that most companies really will try anything to get as much money as possible. And that's just a bit sad.
