Consisting currently of four main films and one spin-off film, the Shrek franchise has been a popular addition to the animated film landscape since its debut in 2001. In more recent years, the Shrek franchise has become an online sensation with the advent of memes taking the franchise to a new iconic status. Despite not getting a new entry in the franchise since 2011, there is plenty of existing media for LEGO to be able to adapt into a fun exciting video game experience.

The adventures of Shrek, Donkey, Fiona and Puss in Boots make for some hilarious and action packed moments that would translate well into the LEGO setting. The variety of fairy tale characters in the franchise would provide a large cast of characters for players to enjoy. Traveller’s Tales would be able to use the voices from the film without any additional dialogue for the main cast.

Shrek’s Swamp, the Poison Apple tavern or the Far Far Away Castle could provide the perfect location, or locations, for the games hub world. Classic movie moments such as the gladiator arena from Shrek, the storming of the Far Far Away castle from Shrek 2 and the stage musical from Shrek the Third are just some of options for LEGO to adapt into levels. Many gamers would be drawn in just from the memes alone of a Shrek LEGO video game, which would surely make the title a hit for Traveller’s Tales.
