10 Modern Video Game Tropes We're Totally Sick Of

10. The CrAaAzY Antagonist

Look, we all loved Vaas in Far Cry 3. Played by Michael Mando, Vaas Montenegro practically leapt off the screen during the game's pre-release trailers, and is still one of the most memorable villains of the entire generation (despite being killed halfway through the story).

The problem though, was scores of developers started to think this was an easy way to tick the box of "memorable antagonist", resulting in "that scene" where every hero wakes from a stupor, eyes blinking, as a one-man theatre performance struts around in front of you.

All the Far Cry titles since 3 have had this, as did Dying Light, Days Gone, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Wolfenstein 2 and a TON more.

Y'know how you can tell you've stumbled on this trope, too? The "big bad" will always shoot one of their own people - preferably just after the gun was pointed at you, or a friend of yours held hostage.

Every.single.time.
