10 More Video Game Sequels You Didn't Know Were Coming In 2020

2. SpongeBob SquarePants Battle For Bikini Bottom: Rehydrated

Technically blurring the lines between remake and sequel, we feel like the fact that Purple Lamp Studios are designing a whole new multiplayer mode, bringing in a whole host of old content and making a brand new boss battle makes this worth a place on this list.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom was released all the way back in 2003 as one of Nickelodeon's very first big video game titles and follows the story of SpongeBob, Patrick and friends fighting off a force of robots created by Plankton.

Whilst the game hit some pretty mixed reviews with critics, it became one of the most beloved titles for gamers who were around in the early 2000s, standing tall with the likes of The Simpsons: Hit and Run in terms of nostalgia.

The Rehydrated sequel was announced in June 2019 and will be released on PC, Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, powered with the Unreal Engine 4 and pumped full of new content.

As well as adding in previously unseen levels, that multiplayer mode we mentioned earlier and a boss battle against Robo-Squidward, the game will feature far more dynamic mechanics and a revamped and more diverse colour pattern, pulling this game into 2020 nicely.
