9. Medal Of Honor

Until Dawn
EA

2010's Medal of Honor was developed at the height of the boom in the shooter genre of titles, delivering a realistic and gritty look at the War on Terror. Whilst other titles in the Medal series had been set during the height of World War 2, the 2010 title takes place in 2002 Afghanistan and, more specifically, the Battle of Roberts Ridge during Operation Anaconda.

Medal of Honor sees players take control of three different US specialist soldiers across its single-player storyline. Sadly, however, not all of them make it to the end of the game alive.

The bulk of the player's time in the game is spent with Navy SEAL DEVGRU operator Rabbit. Certainly one of the braver characters players will have encountered in the series, Rabbit is first wounded when he is thrown out of a Chinook before being suddenly shot through the back after being ambushed in a hut.

Rabbit and team leader Mother are injured again after jumping from a cliff, before finally being rescued by helicopter. Sadly for this total badass, his wounds prove to be too severe and he succumbs to his wounds, with players getting a final shot of Rabbit being covered by a blanket as Preacher takes his lucky Rabbit's foot.

Horror fan, gamer, all round subpar content creator. Strongly believes that Toad is the real hero of the Mario universe, and that we've probably had enough Batman origin stories.
