Far Cry 3's storyline kicks off with protagonist Jason Brody vacationing on the mysterious Rook Islands, celebrating with his friends and younger brother Riley, who has just received his pilot's licence.

However, after taking a skydiving trip, the group land on an island run by Vaas Montenegro and his band of pirates. Embarking on a mission to save his friends, the game's plot revolves around how Jason becomes more and more skilled as a killer, and how much he appears to begin enjoying it.

The game concludes with players being faced with a choice: either save Jason's friends and leave the island or kill his friends and live out on the island with Citra, Vaas' sister.

Should players choose to stay with Citra, funky blood paint and all, Jason will enter another dreamy sex scene before being roughly brought back to reality with a stab straight to the chest. Citra explains how Jason has 'won' and that their child will take over to lead the Rakyat tribe.

But, for the game's protagonist, this is indeed the end of the line. A final shot of the boat on the beach by the Dragon Knife used to kill both Vaas and Jason is shown as the credits roll, leaving players to believe they probably made the wrong call.
