6. The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
The Legend
of Zelda: Breath of the Wild marked a huge departure for the series. At the
time of its release in early 2017, the industry was all about sprawling
open-world adventures and survival elements; Breath of the Wild tried to bring
these concepts to the Zelda franchise for the first time.
Needless to say, the game was a phenomenal success, as jaw-dropping for long-time fans as that first glimpse of Hyrule Field was in Ocarina of Time. On your way to defeating Calamity Ganon, you’ll explore the most expansive and ambitious take on Hyrule ever. As such, if you planned to see and do everything the game has to offer, you probably gave up on that ambition soon after seeing exactly what was involved.
Why You’ll Never 100% It:
The Zelda series has always brought players a range of little sidequests to explore, in search of Heart pieces and the like, but Breath of the Wild takes the cake.
The huge number of shrines alone will take an eternity to conquer (and there are some fiendish challenges like the combat trials to complete in some), but there’s also much more besides for precious little reward.
Have you turned every stone in Hyrule, solved every obscure and barely noticeable puzzle on a hilltop, in pursuit of Korok Seeds? If you haven’t, Hestu judges you.
There are 900 of these seeds to be found throughout Hyrule, awarded for the most mundane of tasks. Surely a feat that would be almost literally impossible without a guide.
Your reward for actually doing so? A golden piece of poop.
Outside of seed collection, there is ZERO reward for full 100% completion, and that's if you mustered the mental fortitude to see everything.
