10 Most Anti-Climactic Video Game Endings EVER

9. Twelve Minutes

Skyrim Alduin
Annapurna

In Annapurna's mind-bending title, a police officer breaks into a couple's home and accuses the woman of murdering her father. This argument leads to a scuffle, which concludes with the invader killing your character, the husband.

You wake up 12 minutes prior and realise you're trapped in a time-loop. In order to stop time from resetting over and over, you must delve into the husband's past and learn about his connection with the cop.

After uncovering enough clues, you prove the officer's accusations are false, causing him to apologise for repeatedly murdering you. As you embrace your wife, the story seemingly concludes with every aspect of the plot tied up neatly.

But instead of watching the credits, the next scene cuts to 12 minutes prior, meaning time has reset again. After discovering more clues, it's ultimately revealed everything you've experienced is a mental projection you created out of guilt for murdering your father. Also, your wife is revealed to be your half-sister, meaning you killed her father too.

Now, there's nothing wrong with a fake-out. However, fake-outs only work if the actual ending is better than the false one. The red herring climax tied up all the loose ends so well, the actual conclusion sort of ruined it.
