While Mr. Resetti and his brother haven't really been absent from previous games, they have been unemployed.

Thanks to the improved save systems in later models of the DS and iterations of Animal Crossing, it was no longer necessary to berate kids and adults alike about their lack of save files. No longer did Mr.Resetti need to jump from the ground and force us to repeat whatever he was saying, and hope that we'd learned our lesson. Spoiler: we hadn't.

Fortunately though, as teased in a Nintendo Direct (20 February 2020,) Mr. Resetti and/or his brother are back! During the announcement of the new Rescue Service, the player character is seen on the phone with someone. Though we are unable to see this character, there are clear hints as to who is behind this new service. During the speech, we are treated to... you guessed it, Mr. Resetti's theme! That paired with the excitable speech bubble and all the, you know, yelling, means we are sure to be back with our favourite angry mole soon.
