One of the only announcements to come out of last year's Game Awards not spoiled ahead of time, Marvel's Ultimate Alliance confirmed its grand return at the ceremony, the twist being its exclusivity to the Switch. But more surprising still, than Disney's show of trust in Nintendo's console, is the developer chosen to spearhead this installment in the superhero mash-up. Nioh and Ninja Gaiden creator Team Ninja is taking charge for the threequel, news that'll serve as music to the ears of many, given the studio's talent.
The soul-crushing difficulty present in its past triumphs will no doubt be left at the door, but engrossing combat systems are undoubtedly Team Ninja's forte, so if any developer can make even Marvel's less popular heroes shine as much as the big names like Wolverine and Hulk, it's the reputable Japanese developer.
The Avengers, X-Men, Guardians of the Galaxy and more are already confirmed to be in for Earth's war against Thanos and his ruthless Black Order, but as release day draws closer, expect more famous faces from Marvel's engorged universe to come forward, as well as further details on gameplay changes, including what Nintendo's dubbing 'Heroic Camera' mode.
