10 Most Criminally Overlooked Video Games Of 2018

8. Valkyrie Chronicles 4

Some day, the Valkyrie Chronicles series will truly get its due. Yes, the franchise has its fans (hence a fourth instalment), but Sega's hybridised third-person shooter-meets-XCOM turn-based strategy is a match made in gaming heaven.

Playing just as seamlessly as that description sounds, you'll first plan moves in an overhead view; deciding on flanking manoeuvres and soldier placement, only to zoom down to ground level and play through your strategies first-hand. This means general movement, hiding, gunfire and the most crucial parts of gameplay are immediately more responsive and literally hands-on, whilst the overarching flow of battle can be dipped back into when you're done.

It's an additional layer of combat many third-person shooter fans likely didn't know they wanted, and thanks to a seamless HUD that keeps you informed of enemy sight lines and placement, means you can plan in the moment, as well as a few moves ahead for what's next.

Somewhat strange to say given this is the fourth main entry in the series, but VC4 is easily the best one so far, and is simply deserves a bigger player base.
