10 Most Disappointing Games Of The Decade (So Far)

2. Marvel's Avengers

An Avengers-themed live service game from Tomb Raider reboot developers Crystal Dynamics had a whole load of potential, but once players breezed through its 12-hour cinematic campaign in a weekend, there wasn't a whole lot left to do.

The lack of meaningful endgame content combined with repetitive, loot-focused gameplay ensured that Avengers lost most of its player-base within a few short weeks, and the subsequent updates just didn't offer enough to bring most people back.

Despite its evidently massive budget and the reputation of its developer, Marvel's Avengers felt strangely low-effort - a AAA live service title that wasn't prepared to do the leg-work to maintain players' attention, and was probably rushed to market by Square Enix before it was done cooking.

Even if merely good, a AAA live service Avengers game should've been a license to print money. Instead, it lost Square Enix a huge pile of cash and was shut down just three years after launch.
