10 Most Disappointing Video Games Of 2018
3. State Of Decay 2
In a generation where Microsoft have been lacking in quality exclusives, the zombie survival game State of Decay became a surprising heavy hitter for the company. The original garnered a loyal fanbase, with its constantly evolving world offering a genuinely unique experience that the competition didn't have.
Inevitably, a sequel was announced, and with Microsoft pleased with the first's success, and looking to buy the developer Undead Labs outright, hopes were high that with more support and money behind it, the sequel could be both bigger and better.
However, while it's far from a bad game, State of Decay 2 wasn't the major next step for the franchise that most were expecting. Instead, it released with a litany of bugs that made the experience far more frustrating than it should have been, lacking the overall polish that most expected from the follow up. Throw in mechanics that were all too similar to the original and a lack of real innovation all around, and the general feeling was that Undead Labs simply provided more of the same.
Again, for some fans that was more than fine, but for others hoping that the title was going to be the franchise's defining moment, it was undoubtedly deflating.
