10 Most Disappointing Video Games Of 2021
6. Battlefield 2042
After Battlefield V's disastrous launch, Battlefield 2042 was supposed to right the ship. Returning the series to a near-future setting, and promising to bring back the tone and style of fan favourite releases like Battlefield 3, this was touted as a proper-next gen experience, with 128 players fighting it out in epic all-out-war modes.
And, in fairness, that's exactly what the final game delivered. 2042 can be exhilarating, with an intense sense of scale unlike anything else in the genre. The only issue is there isn't enough of it, and what is there is buggy as hell.
As soon as the game hit early access, the complaints rolled in: hit registration was terrible, weapon recoil was ridiculous, match balance was completely skewed and vehicles were so over-powered it made infantry combat a joke.
Throw in a relative lack of content, with only 22 launch weapons and a lack of attachments, and the whole thing felt like more of a start, than a fully-fledged release.
To their credit, DICE has already substantially improved the game through three updates, but work still needs to be done.
