Paarthurnax, sometimes called the Old One, is the leader of the Greybeards, masters of the Voice. They are located on the highest peak in all of Skyrim, High Hrothgar. The Voice, or Thu'um, is a powerful magic that is found within the dragon language. When someone with the ability to speak with the Voice utilises it, they expel great power through a Shout.

Paarthurnax is a master of Shouts, and he imparts his knowledge of them to the Dragonborn. The stories and wisdom that Paarthurnax shares with the Dragonborn are astonishing; every minute the player spends with the Old One is captivating.

The dragon's deep voice makes him sound ancient and wise, which he is. He's mastered his spirit and overcome his cruel nature, something few dragons achieve. He's truly a remarkable character, and the interactions with him are totally unforgettable, in a way they almost feel sacred.
