6. The 5th Member of the Elite Four, Any Pokemon Game (Gameboy/DS)

Whether you do the old classic of power-levelling your main Pokemon and padding the team out with weaker ones, or the sensible approach of raising each Pokemon evenly, youll struggle regardless with the Elite Four. Unless you had enough friends who were willing to let you borrow their strongest critters, there just doesn't seem like enough hours in the day to get you ready. Scraping past the Elite Four is doable, provided your team is balanced enough, and the feeling of elation you get when the last Elite Pokemon falls by your hand (or claw, or beak, or tendril) is palpable. But thats not the end. Of course it isnt. The feelings of relief that swelled in you when you just about managed to beat your final combatant is quickly doused with the bitter realisation that theres a fifth character to fight. Depending on the game its your rival or another powerful trainer youve met along the way. And personally, I typically forget about this every time I get this far. Youve been built up to fall. 9 times out of 10 youll realise that you just dont have the potions to fight another elite trainer and resign to bitter defeat even before the battle has begun. And should you fail, youve got to fight all five again. NERD RAGE!
