10 Most Iconic Moments From Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

3. The Ending To End All Game Endings

A high speed getaway chase from a nuclear launch silo sees you fending off enemies in speeding jeeps coming from all sides: You are overwhelmed and the odds of a successful escape seem slimmer and slimmer as each minute passes.

A helicopter attacks and you defend. You try to down it with an RPG. No dice. The helicopter seems to leave, only to blow up the next bridge you were about to cross. You crash, are trapped on a collapsing bridge and have to make your final stand with air support a long way off.

Two words make this one memorable: Captain Price.

Having spent much of the game bossing Soap around and making sarcastic comments, some players felt aggrieved that the game ends with Price being resuscitated - his fate unknown until Modern Warfare 2. After a fuel tanker explodes on the blocked bridge and you're left facing down Imran Zakhaev himself. Yet, Price is also the salvation of Soap in his final moments as he is the one to slide a pistol to you to finally and definitely take care of Zakhaev with a swift and deserved headshot.

You are evacuated to a helicopter by Russian ally Kamarov. Gaz is dead. Price is presumed dead. You may have won, but at what cost?
