1. The BFG 9000 - Doom

One thing will have entered your mind when you picked up this gun in the original Doom: €œShit. That is a Big Fucking Gun€. And so too did did it enter the mind of the developer it seems, as although it was originally named the €˜Bio Force Gun€™, it had the former, ruder title in Tom Hall€™s original Doom design document and was re-named as such in the Doom II manual. There really isn€™t a more iconic weapon in existence, especially for those of us who were just opening our eyes to gaming as a life-long pastime when Doom was originally released. It fires giant balls of bright green Antimatter, and should an enemy get in its way, then let€™s just say you€™ll be having enemy soup that night for num nums. Not only that, if there were any foes even remotely near the targeted one, they too would share the same fate €“ entire rooms would be left painted red in your wake. The term €˜overpowered€™ wasn€™t thrown around a lot back then, but suffice to say, the BFG 9000 almost made you feel sorry for the chamber full of scum that were about to taste your mighty wrath.
