10 Most Overrated Video Games Of 2018
3. Monster Hunter: World
We're playing with fire here, but how the hell did Monster Hunter: World land a 90 Metascore, putting it within critical spitting distance of God of War?
Capcom's hit multiplayer action-RPG certainly has a neat hook, but for all of its promise and gorgeous scenery, the overall product is a shockingly dull, lifeless slog hampered by needlessly obtuse multiplayer matchmaking.
The story and characters are a total flatline, while the central gameplay loop is defined by an excess of repetition and busy-work, tutorials are absolutely atrocious for beginners and the UI is cluttered to hell.
Were it quicker and easier to join a session with randoms, then perhaps these issues might not seem quite so damning.
Unless you're a huge fan of the series already - again, this player isn't - or really love the loot grind, Monster Hunter: World smacks of a majorly missed opportunity.
