For some, one partner isn’t quite enough. The player is able to pursue relationships with up to three character’s in Hade’s twisted underworld. Dusa, Megaera and Thanatos are all able to be courted throughout the adventure.

Interestingly, all embody a different conception of love accordingly to the ancient Greek philosophies the game is based upon.

Firstly, Dusa, who happens to be a floating head, symbolises ‘Philia,’ or platonic love. Their relationship is based on mutual respect and admiration.

Conversely, Megaera’s bond is way more risqué, representing ‘Eros’, or lustful, physical love. Although she is friendly in-game, the player is told of a passionate, if turbulent past, which still appears to be lingering years on.

Finally, Thanatos embodies ‘Agape’, the highest, unconditional form of love. A perfect match for Zagreus’s hot blooded and headstrong attitude is Thanatos' ice cold and level-headed demeanour.

Importantly though, all three of these relationships are given an equal chance to shine, with Hades reminding us all that love can be much more than late-night frolics.
