10 Most Polarizing Characters In Video Games
3. Trevor Philips - Grand Theft Auto V
The protagonists in Grand Theft Auto games are pretty much never the good guys. They steal, they rob, and they murder people, but as it turns out - even in a game where you're meant to act like a hardcore criminal - there are some boundaries that can't be crossed without making a few people upset.
One of the three playable characters in GTA V, Trevor, is an unhinged psychopath who, on top of the aforementioned stealing and killing, dabbles in cannibalism, torture, gasoline huffing, and many other insane things that would make even a veteran criminal sick in the stomach.
Naturally, Trevor's appearance in GTA V was met with mixed reactions upon the game's release. Some people loved playing as a crazy, over-the-top serial killer, stating that his antics were a nice break from the serious and depressing tone of GTA IV. Others were deeply disturbed by his behavior, and felt uncomfortable having to put themselves in his brain-covered shoes.
And speaking of those brain-covered shoes (spoiler alert!) it probably didn't help Trevor's reputation that the first thing he did in his introduction was kill a beloved protagonist from the previous game. Then again, you can't deny that he knew how to make a memorable entrance.
