6. Road Rash II

Who doesn't want to punch a policeman from his motorcycle before racing off into the Arizona desert with a hearty chuckle? That anti-authority aura is something Electronic Arts (yep, before they were just EA) sold perfectly with the original Road Rash. Then, they nailed the gameplay with Road Rash II.

A much better game than its predecessor, II is a shining example of arcade racing with a little more bang for your buck. The ability to swing chains and pipes around like a madman is super-fun, and it's even cool to see your rider fall from grace and skid along the road. That sound effect makes it sound like they'll have no skin left too.

Road Rash II has imperfections, such as the heavy punishments for falling off your bike. Get over that quick though and one of the best games Sega ever released on the Mega Drive/Genesis. No, they didn't develop it, but Sega's console was the ideal place for this kind of bike-based mayhem.

It may not be as good as you recall, but Road Rash II is still a damn fine game.
