Few do arcade racing like Sega, that's just a fact of life. For every in-depth experience from others like Gran Turismo or Forza, sometimes you just want to reach for that old copy of Sega Rally and accelerate till you can accelerate no more. Crazy Taxi has that atmosphere, and coolly mixes it with a pop-punk vibe.

Who would have brought The Offspring and taxi driving together other than Sega? When Crazy Taxi hit arcades, it was a money-munching machine. Gamers just wanted one more go, even if the 'A to B as fast as you can' gameplay has limitations. By the time Taxi hit home consoles like the Dreamcast and later PS2, gamers were hooked, and it's easy to see why.

This is one of those titles that wears any roughness like a badge of honour. Forget realistic physics or anything like that, because Crazy Taxi is all about fun. In that sense, it holds up. 3D graphics from bygone eras have a hard time remaining relevant today, yet this is one game that succeeds despite the jagged edges.
