Humanoid Pokémon have always been very hit and miss, particularly as more and more oddly-specific ones have come into the fold in recent games, including a trio based on construction workers (Timburr, Gurdurr, and Conkeldurr), generic martial artists (Throh and Sawk), and a bird that resembles a Mexican wrestler (Hawlucha). The most disturbing, perhaps also the most ridiculous, has been the evolutionary line of Gothita, Gothorita, and Gothitelle.

From the names alone, it's easy to tell that the three are partially based on goth fashion, which is fairly unique and arguably not the worst inspiration for a group of dark Pokémon given the stereotypical tendencies of the subculture. Specifically, however, they are based on a Japanese offshoot called 'Gothic Lolita, followers of which also aspire to resemble underage children, which is a tad disturbing to say the least.

Japan is a weird and wonderful place, but quirks that are unique to it can easily be lost in translation when they come to the West, which definitely seems to be the case here.
