10 Most Terrifying Horror Game Enemies Of The Generation

9. The Groom - Outlast: Whistleblower

The Kaernk may not be the coolest cat in town but at least it has no desire to chase you around an asylum trying to mutilate your genitals. Something that cannot be said for our next terrifying horror game foe, The Groom, otherwise known as Muroff victim Eddie Gluskin. Hopeless romantic, though he may be, he’s not big on taking no for an answer to his attempts to make protagonist Waylon Park into his bride.

While I’m sure we appreciate the sentiment, dinner and Netflix would have been a better seduction tactic.

Eddie has been converted into a Variant due to the torture from the failed experiments conducted on him by the Asylum’s scientists. Variants make up the majority of Outlast’s many memorable antagonists and though they come in all sorts of horrifying encounters, there’s something about almost seeing your protagonists junk sliced off with a buzzsaw that just sticks with you.

The game largely asks you to hide, during which failure to conceal yourself results in wildly fright-inducing moments where you’ll be dragged out from your hiding spot and slaughtered, or run like a madman. You’ll be doing both of these when facing off against the Groom and his mates.

Luckily he’s taken out by his own attempt to kill you but before his dying breath he tells Waylon, “We could have been beautiful." Somehow I don’t think you’ll feel too bad for him.
