10 Most Terrifying Horror Video Games You've Never Played
3. Immortality
Immortality blends together a whole bunch of genres. There's mystery in there, there's romance, drama, erotic thriller, but at its heart it proves to be one of the creepiest, scariest experiences so far this year.
If you've played any of Sam Barlow's other titles like Her Story, you know what you're in for here, that being expertly crafted live-action footage that you as the player are expected to scrutinise and piece together in order to fully understand the plot of the game. This time around, you play as someone who has been given the footage of three films all starring an actress who has disappeared off the face of the Earth. You watch each clip and click on an object in the scene, that will then match cut to a similar object from another piece of footage. So, say you click on an actor's face, you'll cut to another piece of footage they're in, whether that's another movie, a behind the scenes interview, or rehearsal.
By doing this you piece together the plots of these movies and, more importantly, the lives of these characters - all of which are far more complex and disturbing than first meets the eye.
Emerging from this game is like emerging from a late night at the library with a haunted piece of film you've been putting together, and the cold light of day just doesn't quite seem as innocent as it did before.
