2. Mr. X - Resident Evil 2 Remake
It's finally time to address the Resident Evil franchise and its illustrious history with stalker villains. Nemesis, Lady Dimitrescu, The Baby, The Baker Family, the series is a delectable buffet of hair-raising baddies that chase you down. Selecting just one is tough, but Mr. X does it best.
This villain is a masterclass in determination. Any and every encounter with Mr. X in Resident Evil 2 leaves you scrambling as you desperately try to evade him, knowing that he will stop at nothing to put you down. He'll push through hordes of zombies to reach you, and putting bullets in him barely slows the big guy down. Hearing his imposing footsteps grow louder is like a growing symphony of the words "I gotta get out of here."
His visual design is also so chillingly simple. That trenchcoat and hat combo placed on top of a grey-skinned behemoth doesn't scream horror, and yet he's more intimidating than every other zombie in the game. Sometimes, simple is best.
