10 Most Underrated Mega Drive & Genesis Games Ever

5. Dynamite Headdy - Treasure (1994)

Treasure

Boasting the odd distinction of being the second Mega Drive title to feature a hero who could detach his cranium and use it as a weapon against enemies (the first being Vic Tokai's Decapattack), Dynamite Headdy was still quite unique.

You play as a puppet named Headdy on a quest to lay the smack down on a puppet king with plans of world domination. Don't worry if the story sounds like a bit of a stretch, the game mechanics were fast, balanced with lush, colorful environments and ever screen was action-packed

Despite being praised by critics at the time of release, Dynamite Headdy failed to gain mass appeal and remains a hidden gem to this very day.

Jason Russell has been working in video game journalism since the early 1990s before the internet existed, the term "fanzine" had meaning and sailors still debated as to whether or not the earth was flat. The first time. More recently he has been the guy responsible for the Retrospective column for Old School Gamer Magazine, pens up a Game Skinny column on a plethora of video game topics. He's somehow managed to author nine novels, writes and runs the blog CG Movie Review, is co-founder of the science fiction publishing house Starry Eyed Press, and sometimes, when the planets align and the caffeine has fully left his system, it's rumored he sleeps.
