4. Outlast 2

The first Outlast was genuinely brilliant. Capturing that indie horror vibe but with a triple-A level of polish, it managed to shape the horror scene for years to come. However, the second one came and went without even a bump.

Why is unclear, but somewhat unjustified. The game itself is more of what came before. It's absolutely terrifying, disgusting and unbelievably horrifying. Yes, Outlast 2 can seem a bit confusing at times and has a tendency to sprawl a little wide in terms of environments, but not enough to make it completely forgettable.

Perhaps horror games are more popular when watched on Youtube rather than played yourself, but even in saying that Outlast 2 didn't exactly make a massive splash either way. Still, it's a decent horror game and worth cowering your way through.
