10 Most Unique Open World Enemies You Must Find

The kind of creatures you want to go searching for!

Stalker 2
GSC Game World

Picture the scene; you're wandering through the vast lands of a breathtaking open world game when music suddenly begins to play. You start to think, what is happening? Is there a boss? Where is it coming from? What do I do? Then, all of a sudden, an enemy appears, looking unlike anything else you've fought up until that point. It then whips your butt as quickly as it arrived, and all you can think is, "Woah, that was awesome."

Those who frequent open world games can tell you this is a feeling unlike any other. The thrill of this kind of world design is that you're the one taking the initiative to go places, so anything you encounter has a feeling of spontaneity to it. The danger and surprise of discovering a freaky enemy is massively multiplied when you're the one who stumbled upon it rather than it upon you.

Plenty of games thrive on this sensation, with some of their best moments coming from venturing out into the world and finding some badass things to fight. The following examples are some of the best, as they deliver encounters you simply can't miss.

10. Psuedogiant (S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl)

Stalker 2
GSC Game World

The irradiated hellscape around the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant depicted in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 makes exploration feel like a waking nightmare. This isn't a game for the faint of heart, as seen via the many frightening mutant enemies you can encounter. Still, those with a death wish hoping to fight all these enemies are sure to love the Psuedogiant because it is one gnarly-looking abomination.

This mutated monstrosity is one of the toughest enemies in the game, as its lumbering body can withstand a tonne of damage and deal plenty back. It sits atop the food chain in this open world, similar to the horrifying Chimera. However, the Psuedogiant really shines thanks to its grotesque design, looking like it walked out of a live-action Monsters Inc. remake directed by David Cronenberg.

Your best chance of survival against this mutant is to run away, but taking one down is worth a shot - so you should at least give it a go.
