10 NPCs That Broke Video Games

3. Xeno'jiiva - Monster Hunter World

And now for an NPC that can actually break your game, we have Xeno'jiiva, the final boss of Monster Hunter World. Unlike other bosses in the game that rely on raw physical strength to defeat you, Xeno'jiiva prefers a more direct approach by corrupting your data and then forcing you to delete your save file.

Yes, this is 100% real. Xeno'jiiva became infamous among Monster Hunter World's playerbase for causing irreversible damage to people's save files after they defeated her. The cutscene showcasing her death can cause your game to crash, and then every time you try to load up your save file, Monster Hunter will continue to shut down, forcing you to give up on your progress and start a new campaign.

Seeing as Xeno'jiiva is the final boss, you can probably tell how devastating it is to experience this glitch. Capcom has made a lot of patches to Monster Hunter World since its initial release in 2018, but the Xeno'jiiva bug was never officially fixed, so most people still advise making backups of your saves before taking her on.

It might be annoying, but on the other hand, Xeno'jiiva's save-erasing powers make her an actually terrifying final boss.
