10 Obscure Video Game Secrets That Took Years To Discover

7. Fighting Professor Oak - Pokemon Red & Blue

Resident Evil 4
Nintendo

In the original Pokemon Red & Blue, it was originally intended for the player to be able to face off against Professor Oak in what would have been the final battle of the game. Having caught all one-hundred and fifty-one Pokemon, you would face off against the man who gave you that task as one last send-off from the world.

But, for whatever reasons, the battle was removed from the game, and the player could only face off against him via glitches or external cheat engines. It took several years to even manipulate the game through these means and stands testament to just how intricate these games are.7

As for his roster of Pokemon? He always had a Tauros, Exeggutor, Arcanaine, Gyarados and the final evolution of the Pokemon that was left at the beginning of the game. He was intended to be the final boss and thus was even tougher than the League, which is saying something for a simple Pokemon Professor who pawned his research off to ten-year-olds.
