10 Obscure Video Game Secrets That Took Years To Discover

6. Getting Mew - Pokemon Red & Blue

Resident Evil 4
Nintendo

Mew was a mystery for the longest of time. We can all remember the playground rumours that spread around, with everyone rushing home to test out Billy's latest theory as to how to catch the legendary Pokemon. Almost everyone believed the Pokemon was hiding beneath that truck at one point.

However, when Game Genie and Action Replay came along, we were all confident that this was the only way to catch the elusive Pokemon. That was until a few years ago when it was discovered that there was a legit way to catch him.

Legit is probably not the right word as it required glitches as pinpoint accuracy, but Mew was entirely attainable through in-game means, meaning that no longer did players have to rely on external code to get it. Shame it was a decade or so too late.
